GutEase Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 9, 2026
Effective date: May 9, 2026
Welcome to GutEase (the "App"). We understand the importance of your personal information and will take reasonable security measures required by law and industry practice to help protect it.
Please read this policy carefully before using the App. By agreeing to it or continuing to use the App, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted the full content of this policy.
1. Scope
This policy applies to how we process information when you use GutEase through the iOS client. If there are other agreements, notices, or platform-specific rules inside the App or in the App Store that differ from this policy, those more specific statements will prevail.
This public webpage may also be used as one of the Privacy Policy URL references in App Store Connect, subject to the actual live production address.
2. Information we collect and use
2.1 Content you actively create and store on your device
To support food and digestion logging, the App may store data locally on your device, including for example:
- meal records, including photos, text input, and notes
- bathroom activity records, comfort records, and notes
- food-library data, preferences, and summary information, depending on the actual feature set of the current version
This information is stored locally by default and is used to present timelines, lists, and summaries inside the App. We do not automatically upload all of this content to our servers simply because you use the recording features, unless another section of this policy says otherwise or you choose to use a feature that requires cloud sync or network transfer.
2.2 Account and sign-in related information, if applicable
If the App supports account login or cloud sync and uses third-party services such as Supabase, then when you voluntarily sign in, we may process:
- account-related identifiers, such as user IDs or session tokens
- technical information required for authentication and sync
The purpose of this processing is to verify identity, maintain sessions, and provide the cloud features you choose to use. The specific handling rules for this category of data are also subject to the privacy policy of the relevant third-party service provider.
2.3 Photo-based recognition or other network-dependent features, if applicable
When you use photo-based food recognition or other features that rely on external AI services, the photo you choose to submit and any related prompt text may be transmitted over HTTPS to a third-party AI or cloud service provider in order to generate a recognition or response result.
- This transfer is necessary only because you actively triggered the feature.
- The third-party provider may process the transmitted data under its own terms and privacy policy.
- We do not control all downstream processing by third parties, but we aim to choose compliant providers and only transmit the minimum data needed to support the feature, such as compressed image data where appropriate.
If you do not want a photo to be sent to an external service, please do not use the relevant recognition feature and instead use manual entry only.
2.4 Device and log information
To keep the App stable and help diagnose crashes or errors, the system or tools we use may collect limited device or runtime information, such as:
- device model
- operating system version
- application version
- crash summaries
We do not use this information for advertising-based user profiling. If we later introduce analytics or telemetry beyond this scope, we will update this policy accordingly and obtain any consent required by law.
3. Where data is stored and for how long
- Local data is stored on your device. Clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App may make those records unrecoverable unless you have separately used a supported cloud backup or sync feature.
- Data sent to third parties is handled according to the retention and processing rules of those providers.
- When data no longer needs to be retained for the purpose for which it was collected, and there is no other legal reason to keep it, we will stop retaining it or will anonymize it as appropriate.
4. Sharing, transfer, and public disclosure
Sharing
We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following situations:- with your separate consent
- when necessary to provide the features described in this policy, such as through service providers that help with authentication, sync, storage, or AI processing, and only within the necessary scope
- when required by law, legal process, or valid requests from judicial or administrative authorities
Transfer
We do not transfer your personal information to other companies, organizations, or individuals except in cases such as merger, division, or bankruptcy, in which case we would require the receiving party to continue being bound by this policy or to seek fresh consent where necessary.Public disclosure
We do not publicly disclose your personal information except where legally required or where the information has been properly de-identified so that no individual can be identified.
5. Your rights
Within the scope provided by law, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights to access, correct, delete, withdraw consent, close an account, or obtain a copy of certain information.
Because GutEase is primarily a local-first recording app, you can usually manage or delete your own records through the app interface. If third-party account or cloud data is involved, you may also use the relevant sign-in flow or contact us for assistance.
6. Children's privacy
The App is primarily intended for adults. If the App is ever designed for or used by children under 14, we will seek parental or guardian consent as required by law and apply additional protection measures.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us using the contact details at the end of this policy so we can take appropriate action.
7. Information security
We use reasonable and commonly adopted security measures, such as encrypted transmission and access minimization, to reduce the risks of disclosure, loss, or misuse.
Please understand that no network or electronic storage system can guarantee absolute security.
8. Policy updates
We may revise this policy from time to time. When that happens, we will inform you through reasonable means such as in-app notices, announcements, or App Store update notes.
If you continue to use the App after an updated policy takes effect, that generally means you accept the updated version. The latest update date appears at the top of this page. If there is any mismatch between this page and an in-app display, the newer date should prevail.
